The first Oregon Surf Fishing tournaments were started in 2015 by PK Yi. His enthusiasm and love for surf fishing led to him starting a YouTube channel that led to a subscriber base of over 30 thousand viewers. By becoming the Oregon surf fishing expert, PK has taught a lot of anglers the best ways to fish for Red Tail Perch on the Oregon coast. Out of this interest, tournaments were started culminating in the first Oregon Surf Fishing Championship held on August 22, 2018 at Sunset Beach, Oregon. The first Championship had 84 competitors! The Oregon Surf Fishing Championship is expected to become an annual tradition on the Oregon coast attended by many anglers!
