Oregon Crabbing Guide

Here is a basic crabbing guide for beginners.  This page will update from time to time.

Crab Traps

Buy the Promar Crab Trap here:  https://amzn.to/2QjVsYX.  The black square, collapsible ones also work really well.  The black square ones can be bought here:  https://amzn.to/2Nb1U1V.

Crab Bait

I recommend chicken since they are cheap and you can get them anywhere.  Some people like to use fish as bait, but I've found that seals tend to tear your pots open trying to get after the fish carcass.  I've had many good pots torn up by seals when I use fish.  However, everyone's experience will vary.

Crab Trap Ropes/Line

I prefer lead core ropes because they sink and stays out of the way of boat props.
The rope diameter I use is 5/16", you can get them here:  https://amzn.to/2LqDkb1.

Trap Harness

Promar 4 arm crab trap harness:  https://amzn.to/2I1N6yp.

Crab Measure

Plastic Ties

Nite ize ties are very useful in keeping your gear clean and tidy.
